We are excited to announce that our project, “Biobased Passive House in Haarlem”, has been published on Archello, an international online architecture platform.

This project embrace ecological sustainability, future-proof energy solutions, and thoughtful biophilic design principles. Situated harmoniously beside industrial halls, this dwelling stands out with its distinctive yet contextually respectful architecture.

Constructed from biobased timber frame including different layers of natural insulation materials, the home follows the Passive House standards, emphasizing energy efficiency, exceptional healthy indoor climate, and minimal environmental impact. Key sustainable elements include biobased insulation, a vapor-permeable timber frame structure, and integrated solar energy solutions.

The home’s unique monolithic shape, clad entirely in bamboo slats, skillfully hides functional elements like gutters and rainwater pipes behind its façade. Inside, the exposed laminated timber trusses create an inviting, natural atmosphere that visually echoes the rhythm of the total design.

Innovative passive cooling solutions such as automated sun-shading shutters and a sophisticated heat recovery ventilation system further enhance the home’s energy efficiency and enhance comfort.
